Star Castor

Given its historical significance in the realm of rock music, it seems trivial to nitpick over details like the finish, stickers, or non-original components of this guitar. Originally a 1988 ’57 AVRI Strat, as indicated by the neck date, it boasted a metallic candy apple red finish and a white pickguard. Over time, it underwent transformations: spray-painted black, with the pickguard painted red, though wear and tear have revealed patches of the original finish and peeled away much of the paint. Adorned with thirteen star stickers, six dot stickers, a faded “Organic” sticker, and an iridescent pig sticker on the headstock, it carries a unique visual identity. The pickups were switched to Lace Sensors, the bridge saddles to graphite versions, and the string tree to a roller-type. Unlike Corgan’s later signature models, this guitar, symbolic of his guitar prowess, retains a traditional vibrato bridge with all five springs intact. The backplate has been removed and discarded, adding to its customized charm.
